Christine
Gallati was born in Glarus in 1888. When she was 18 years old she married
Dr. iur. Rudolf Gallati, at a later date member of the Government of the
canton Glarus. She started painting with the age of 43 years as an
autodidact.
Besides
stays in Paris she travelled frequently to France, Italy, The Netherlands,
Spain, Tunisia, Morocco and Greece.
Christine
Gallati was a member of the Zurich section of Swiss painters and
sculpturers. Exhibitions of her artwork took place in Glarus, Zurich,
Chur, Schaffhouse, Winterthur, Geneva, Brunswick and New York.
In
later years she changed her painting technique from aquarel and oil to
lithographic hand-printing, zincograpy and coloured wood-printing.
Christine Gallati died at the age of 97 years in 1985.
